I was so excited to discover this article! W.R. McClure was my maternal uncle. I knew he owned a tax service, but didn’t realize he had been principal at Ray City School. I thought he had lived in Valdosta since first moving to Georgia. Thanks for sharing these articles for us to enjoy.

Leila and Lawrence also had another son. Billy Dupont Luke, MD was born in 1926 and resides in Fayetteville, Georgia.

btw, I found another account of the panther attack in Old Berrien–White’s 1949 Statistics of the State of Georgia . . . . I saved the pdf long long ago, but presume that it can still be found on the www. The attack is described under Miscellaneous, under Lowndes.
